2024 Spring Bear Hunt

I can't speak highly enough about my experience bear hunting with Agassiz Outfitters. Rick and Colleen were so incredibly hospitable and every single one of the guides (Rick, Jordan, Griffs, Brett) were friendly, patient, helpful, and knowledgeable beyond belief. This was my first time at bear camp and it exceeded my expectations in every single way...the friendly people, the cozy lodges with comfortable bedding, the hot showers and indoor plumbing, the home cooked meals prepared by Colleen that were absolutely delicious, and oh year...the amazing hunting!

I managed to harvest my beautiful black bear on Day 3 from 22 yards with my bow. My biggest regret is not having more patience because a substantially bigger one walked in an hour after I harvested mine!

2023 Manitoba Whitetail Hunt

Boasting a land mass of just under 65 million hectares and a population of less than1.5 million people, Manitoba provides plenty of space for a buck to reach a ripe old age and as any savvy whitetail hunter knows, age is one of the three magic ingredients to growing a truly magnificent buck. The other two being nutrition and genetics.

As for nutrition, the province of Manitoba annually plants nearly 12 million acres of grain and oil grain crops. To put this in perspective, the entire state of West Virginia is slightly over 15 million acres. That equates to a lot of full bellies. The whitetail territory hunted by Agassiz Outfitters is located in the western part of the province, a stones throw from it's border with Saskatchewan meaning that these truly western Canadian whitetails posses all of the same desired physical qualities as their cousins from further west.

I recently returned from moose hunting in northern Manitoba with Agassiz Outfitters. Thanks once again to Agassiz for another great hunting adventure! I have hunted Spring bear successfully with Agassiz since 2016, so booking a moose hunt with them was an easy decision and I wasn't disappointed. The entire experience from the fly-in float plane, the huge remote hunting territory, the great food cooked up by Jordan and Craig and the beautiful scenery along the river made for the trip of a lifetime. As I've come to expect from Agassiz, our guides Jordan and Craig ran a top-notch camp and were a lot of fun to spend a week within camp. Ending the trip by shooting a really nice bull, called in by Jordan and watching it swim all the way across the river, made an already great trip into a wilderness moose hunt I won't forget. Our family has been going hunting with Rick and Colleen since 2013.  Started taking our boys as teenagers and last year we took one of our daughter in laws.  it is one of the most relaxing places.  Food is great, you won't go hungry.  They will do everything they can to get you a bear.  Last year I took a bear of a lifetime.  Rick and Colleen have become life long friends with our family.  Looking forward to going back in 2025!  My husband is looking forward to his moose hunt in 2026.

Randy Flowers - Virginia Spring Bear 2023 While conducting my research for a quality Spring Bear Hunt, I set strict criteria in choosing an outfitter. My personnel goal was to harvest 1 quality bear in my lifetime (now maybe two in 2025)! Thus, a good quality outfitter was a must! Bottom line Agassiz Outfitters checked all the boxes: Quality Hunting Territory – I was amazed at the vastness of the hunting territory that Agassiz has control. 3,000 square miles of vast forest and swamps allows for Rick and his guides to strategize and put you on an active remote bait site that assures you will see some action. Agassiz is very well equipped with quality quads, boats, and Argo tracked all-terrain vehicles to access their remote Black Bear rich territory! Limited or No Hunter Pressure – Agassiz’s massive territory allows for Rick to minimize hunting pressure on all of their bait sites. Their method of having twice the active baits as hunters minimizes hunter pressure, which equates to good quality bear at each bait site from year to year. I also liked the management strategy that once a bear is harvested, that particular bait site continues to be baited, but shut down for hunting until the next season! This strategy assures there will be a dominant boar in the area for next season! Experienced Guides – We had 4 experienced guides for 10 hunters during our week hunt with a total of 80 plus years of guiding experience! Rick, Greg (Two Feathers), I can’t say enough for the experience and drive that you showed in tracking my bear that was tucked away in the densest forest swamp that you can imagine. Both these seasoned guides have been there and done that! “Another day at the Office”! Even after all those decades of guiding, I seen true excitement and enjoyment in their eyes, witnessing a first time successful bear hunter lay eyes on their trophy! Modern Accommodations – For being in remote Manitoba, we had all the comforts of home! Lakefront cabins were very adequate with front porches, comfortable beds, propane and wood burning heat. Modern new private shower/bathrooms with hot water. The main lodge was well equipped with screened porch, lake front deck, modern kitchen, large eating area, charging station, cell service, and WIFI. Quality Meals – I can’t say enough about the quality of the cooking! Colleen has mastered camp cooking and you will not go hungry! Steak, porkchops, tenderloin just to mention a few entrees, and her side dishes and select cooking spices are great too! The entire Agassiz Team makes you feel right at home as if you were family! Agassiz is a well-oiled machine that is willing to work hard and go the extra mile both behind the scenes and during your hunting week, to assure that all aspects of your stay and hunting experience is both enjoyable and memorable.

Spring Black Bear Hunt 2023

Recently just got back from one of the best guided outfitting hunts I have ever enjoyed with Agassiz outfitters.  My best friend and I both harvested beautiful trophy bears.  We booked the hunt in 2019 just before COVID prevented us from getting over the border to Canada.  Colleen and Rick worked with us to make this hunt a reality this spring. I have been going on guided hunts all over the USA and Africa for the past 40 years.  I would have to rate this hunt as one of the best.  The accommodations with beautiful views of the Lake ,along with top notch guides and exceptional food ( Colleen is a gourmet chef) made this an incredible experience.  Colleen and Rick are two of most hard -working hosts I have had the pleasure to hunt with.  My guides did everything to accommodate a recent knee issue of mine, by setting up ground blinds in multiple locations. Their attention to detail with safety, maintenance of baits, and care of trophy bears was second to none. Hard to believe that it’s already been a week since I returned from Agassiz bear camp. The memories of a great hunt are framed in its adventure, the comradery of fellow hunters and a successful harvest. Our experience with Rick and Colleen was delightful! It started with their willingness to work with us when covid closed the border to Canada. The hunt was well worth the wait! As many have said, their expertise in running a first-class bear camp is apparent in their commitment to the comfort, safety and flexibility provided to their guests…not to forget Colleens culinary expertise. I was the second to last hunter to harvest a bear. To ensure success Rick moved me three times to baits that were known to be active. Thanks to the orientation of Rick’s “Bear 101” class on day 1, I felt equipped to recognize and harvest my trophy. Also, many thanks to my guides. I have been on multiple elk, mule deer, and antelope hunts with outfitters. However, this is the first testimonial I have ever written, so great was my experience. Enough said!!

Before booking my first ever bear hunt I did a lot of research on what areas and outfitters consistently harvest quality Pope and Young and Boone and Crockett bears as I was looking for a trophy boar. It didn't take long to realize Agassiz was right up there with Alaskan coast and Vancouver Island for the top of the top. I reached out to Collen Liske for information and she quickly responded and told me they normally book almost 2 years in advance which is a huge deal. That means they have a lot of repeat and new customers which tells you a lot about an outfitter righ there. I booked immediately. As the hunt approached Colleen would reach out and make sure I remembered my important things and touch base so I knew how to get there. When I arrived in camp the night before our hunt started I was greeted by Rick Colleen and my guide for the week Jordan and we talked about the previous week hunters and how the baits were getting hit. Then they asked about my family job other interests making a real connection with in the first hour of arriving. The first day of the hunt was rainy and windy not great bear conditions but I still saw and passed a beautiful bear that most people would shoot in a second and the bait sight was tore up with sign everywhere. One of the other hunters knocked down an absolutely beautiful and very big color phase. Which made me ever more sure about my decision to pass that bear. As the week went on the weather started to straighten out and bear activity started to pick up. I saw another smaller bear one of the other hunters got an absolute monster 525lb bear. By Friday all the other hunters had tagged out on bears of all sizes. On my last night with only 15 minutes left of my hunt I finally saw bear I wanted and was able to harvest him with my bow. The entire week was one of the most enjoyable of my life the cabins and shower house were amazing for after a long day on stand. The food Colleen made was as good as any 5 star restaurant you can find and the portions were much bigger leaving me almost miserable because I couldn't stop eating it. The amount knowledge Rick and Jordan were able to convey to me and the other hunters was incredible as was there drive to make sure everyone had a successful but more importantly I think an enjoyable hunt. Hunters were moved to make sure wind was right and bait sights were hot. The management they showed explains why they are one of the greatest destinations not just for trophy hunters like me but also anybody wanting to enjoy a black bear hunt. They showed just as much enjoyment, care, and respect for the bears that were smaller as they did mine and the monster 525 pounder. They made sure every client knew they were genuinely happy for them when they were successful. I will be booking many more hunts with the Liske family in the future I can't say enough amazing things about Agassiz and the legends that roam there and the legends that run it.

I have hunted moose with Agassiz Outfitters three times now 2017,19 and 22 and Signed up for trip number 4 Fall 2025. I was looking for a good quality moose hunt that would not break the bank but also provide me a opportunity to harvest a Moose with the real possibility of taking a trophy. I found it with Agassiz Outfitters, Rick and Colleen Liske. The information on what to bring and travel to licenses and food all made hassle free. I can't say enough about the wonderful experiences I have been given with the Guides from my first trip with Jim and my next 2 trips with Bryan "Moose Minnis as my guide and Bob " The Stalker " True Professionals. The Knowledge and Passion that comes to see the hunter succeed and provide a experience of lifetime is incredible. I had opportunity's on each and every trip to harvest a moose and seen True trophy's each trip had up's and down's but all part of Hunting. This last trip I Harvested a Moose and saw 2 wolverines and 1 at 10 yards what a thrill to see. It was a tough week of hunting with high winds and warm temperatures but still seen moose. Whitetail Hunt 2022

Manitoba offers such tremendous whitetail deer hunting opportunities.  The key in my mind for great whitetail hunting is simply age.  Deer need to live long enough to get big.  When you look at the vastness of Manitoba and the sheer number of deer and the lack of hunting pressure, this combination of age and genetics really makes Manitoba special.  What makes outfitters in Manitoba special in my opinion is the sheer acreage in which outfitters can hunt.  You can tell these deer haven't been pressured and or have had a lot of contact with hunters.  Compared to many outfitters in the U.S where hunting is sometimes confined to much smaller acreages on what can be expensive leases, we have been intrigued by the hunting in this province ever since we started hunting it.  I believe Manitoba deer hunting can fly under the radar because compared to some other provinces, you can't bait in Manitoba, but I believe that is a blessing in disguise.  Manitoba gets overlooked and the reality is that I would rather hunt a travel corridor or scrape line during the rifle and muzzleloader seasons which coincide with the rut and pre rut.  The folks at Agassiz Outfitters have a tremendous amount of experience hunting whitetails in Manitoba.  They have a reputation for providing quality big game hunting opportunities in Manitoba whether you hunt deer, moose or black bears.  This region of Manitoba where they are located simply has all the ingredients for numbers of deer.  The edge where crop land starts and the Canadian bush stops, a mix of cover, big woods, swamps and agriculture, lots of rejuvenated woody browse, rolling terrain features that concentrate or define deer movement.  Knowledge of deer patterns and movements, personable hard-working guides that have done a lot of preparation before you arrive... all the successful ingredients for a top shelf outfitter.  The lodging was very comfortable, the conversations and home cooked meals at the end of the day were the perfect cap to each hunt.  We highly recommend Agassiz Outfitters.

I have hunted moose with Agassiz Outfitters two times (‘19&’22). Both trips were a great experience. When hunting you want to put the most odds you can in your favor. You want to hunt good habitat, hunt well and hunt hard. Agassiz scores an A+ in all categories. I was fortunate to hunt with Bob “The Stalker” and be in camp with Bryan “Moose” Minnis. I have met several of the other Agassiz guides and each was very courteous, conscientious, knowledgeable and hard working as well. I was continually amazed at the entire operation outfitters Rick and Colleen Liske have put together. Everything flows and works together to make the week go so well. Both of them do not leave a stone unturned from licenses and paperwork, flights, food, supplies and camp setups. Their information for traveling to Thompson and preparing for the hunt is thorough and invaluable. You will not meet nicer people. While I was very fortunate to harvest a very nice Bull each hunt, I told Bob, Rick and Colleen if I had not gotten a moose I would have been just as pleased and have a lifetime of great memories. I recently came back from my 5th Spring bear hunt with Agassiz Outfitters. Thanks to the efforts of Rick, Colleen, Jordan and Brendan I have shot a bear all 5 years and this Spring killed a great bear whose skull green scores close to 22 inches, exactly why you go to Manitoba for black bear! I can't say enough about Agassiz's operation-clean and comfortable cabins,cooking second to none, and unbeatable work ethic and game knowledge. Best of all the Liske's and guides are just plain fun to spend a week with in hunting camp. I've hunted with many outfitters over the last 35 years and Agassiz is simply the best. They have a fantastic hunting area with plenty of bears, many that are the size we dream about and they do everything necessary to get you in front of these bears. Let's cut to the chase. It's about the bears. Rick & Colleen have the largest number of big bears I've seen. Full stop. It's why I keep coming back. Yes, the accolades regarding the camps exclusivity, comfortable amenities and plentiful, delicious cuisine are all true. Perhaps even understated. But if you want to see a lot of big bears and have a high probability of harvesting one Agassiz Outfitters is where you need to hunt. All administrative and logistics requirements are seen to for you. Novice or well seasoned hunters alike can simply show up and hunt. I am compelled to note that Rick & Colleen foster a strong sense of camaraderie in camp with all hands pulling for each other. You'll leave having made new life long friends, and with some luck a big cooler packed with delicious black bear meat to boot!

If you are looking for a world class outfitter to take you on the bear hunting adventure of a lifetime, then look no further. I recently returned from my spring bear hunt at Agassiz Outfitters and I couldn’t be happier!

As soon as I drove up, I was warmly greeted by Rick and Colleen welcoming me to bear camp. Colleen then showed me around and took me to my cabin which was right along the lake shore. The view was breathtaking.

After unpacking I went to the main lodge where Colleen was busy making everyone a delicious home cooked meal. For my entire stay, she worked very hard to make sure everyone always had enough to eat and that everyone was happy with their living quarters.

Meanwhile Rick, Jordan, and the rest of the guides were busy discussing which bear baits were getting hit the hardest and which ones would give us the best potential to harvest a big boar. All of the hunters the week before were able to fill their tags with some truly impressive bear. Several of them made the Manitoba record books and one was even a potential Boone and Crockett sized bear. I could barely wait to get into the woods! 

During the first day of our hunt, four out of the nine guys in our group managed to take some really big bruins. My brother-in-law shot a really nice 400 pounder with a big white “V” on it’s chest. One of the other hunters had five different bear come into his bait that night.

The camaraderie in camp was awesome. Rick and Colleen made us all feel like we were part of the family and we had a great time laughing and joking around with one another.

On our second night of hunting, Jordan put me on a stand where I saw the biggest bear of my entire life! It was a 600 pound monster which is insane for a spring bear just coming out of hibernation. After watching him circle me for about 45 minutes, I finally got a clear shot and was able to harvest him. The whole experience was an absolute adrenaline rush! 

The next day Rick and the other guides helped me to take some amazing pictures of my trophy and then processed my bear. They even helped me get the skull measurements and it made the Manitoba record books!

I seriously could not have asked for anything more from an outfitter. Agassiz truly is top notch and I would highly recommend them to anyone. I’m really looking forward to hunting with them again soon!

2021 Fall Black Bear Hunt

I was blessed with the opportunity to hunt with Agassiz Outfitters twice.  I am 77 yrs old and have gone on at least ten hunts, with outfitters, for bear, elk, moose or antelope over the past 50 years.  I’ve probably gone on twice that many ‘self hunts’.  I’ve not been with an outfitter who showed the amount of sincere consideration and care for clients as did Rick and Colleen at Agassiz Outfitters.   My son requires a ‘gluten free’ diet and Colleen had no problem catering to him.  She’s an excellent cook and there was always plenty of food.

My most recent hunt was September of 2021.  There were nine of us in camp that week and everyone harvested a bear.  I shoot a homemade 70 lb longbow and told Rick before I arrived that I would like a shot at 20 yards or less.  He had a bait ready at about 19 yards and on the first night I shot a nice bear in the second hour of the hunt.  It was the second bear that came in and provided a perfect broadside shot so I took it. 

Every hunter in camp harvested a bear that week.  Most hunters tagged out by the second or third day.  The last hunter to tag out did so on the fifth day.  (He was waiting for a particular bear and he got it.)  I believe the final count for the number of bear seen throughout the week by all the hunters was 58 or 59, (that’s the highest count I’d ever seen in a camp in one week)

I hope you are all staying healthy and doing well. I just watched the video that Bryan put together of my moose hunt last September. He did a fine job. Not only did he cover my very successful hunt, but also the beautiful wilderness and the fun and laughs we had along the way. We had a great camp with Bob and his hunter. Good food, good company and serious hunting. The cabins were comfortable and the stoves were warm. Good equipment and no shortage of supplies. Bryan is a true sportsman with a sincere respect for the animals he hunts. My wife watched the video and it helped her to understand what a true adventure I experienced. She may even agree that I should do it”one more time “ before I’m too old! Quite often we hunters don’t realize how hard a really good outfitter ( and especially his wife) work to provide us with a top notch hunting trip. Thanks For Everything!!

All I can say is what an experience! Rick and Colleen take great pride in providing their guests with an unforgettable hunt. Our guides Wayne and Keenan were very knowledgeable, friendly, and down right good guys. We had a blast hunting, fishing, and bsing around the wood stove at night. The food and camp was excellent. Many moose were seen and I was fortunate enough to connect on my ultimate bucketlist trophy. I have moose hunted with other outfitters in the past and this was by far the best hunt i have ever been on!

Feeling blessed to have met Rick and Colleen Liske at a sports show in Lansing, Michigan, my husband and I decided to book a waterfowl hunt with them. After a 21 hour drive, we were welcomed with cozy accommodations in a relaxing, peaceful setting in beautiful Manitoba country.  

We were grateful to Colleen Liske who prepared delicious meals for us three times a day.  If you go hungry, it is your own fault!  A special thank you to Rick Liske who put us on the “X” as we were able to hunt a different field and/or pothole each and every day.  We thought the harvest from day one was amazing but each day it seemed to get better if that was even possible.  We had never seen guides work so hard to make sure their customers were satisfied.  Brendan Liske and Jordan Liske are knowledgeable young men who know how to get the job done right!

The hunting was out of this world-Arkansas x 10….The overall experience was a 10+.  We can’t wait to go back again!

Fall 2019 - Shoreview, MN

My first ever moose hunt in 2019 was fantastic. I expected nothing less as this was my fifth hunt with Agassiz Outfitters and I had grown accustomed to their friendly superior service and skilled staff. As a bowhunter, I especially appreciated Rick telling me it was my hunt and I could do it as I wanted. I brought a gun along in case I needed a backup plan toward the end of the hunt. Guide Bryan appropriately tempered my expectations saying I would only likely get one chance during the week and it would be up to me what I did with it. I was fully prepared to go home empty and still consider it a good hunt. That proved unnecessary as Bryan called in an awesome bull on the second day of the hunt. Rick and Colleen, I expect you and your staff will laugh for many years about the absent-minded hunter who left his bow and most of his clothes in the pickup , how you saved the day and got them to him at the fly-in camp, how he arrowed a gorgeous moose at 4 yards, and the over-the-top emotional reaction he had when they found the moose dead only 50 yards from where it was shot. Bryan and Bob (the other hunter’s guide in our camp) are fun to hunt with. I am so fortunate to have experienced not only their hunting and kitchen skills, but their wry humor. I will likely be back as a color-phase bear is still on my list and possibly another moose hunt after I get the checkbook replenished. Thanks so much.

Spring Bear Hunt

Several years ago a friend of mine told me he had booked a spring bear hunt with Agassiz Outfitters in Manitoba and asked if I wanted to go.  I’m glad I said yes.  We had a great experience and I have now hunted with Rick and Colleen Liske five times, taking 5 bear (three made the minimum score for a “trophy" in Manitoba).  Last year I took a big black with lots of white on the chest; I am going to pick up the full-body mount tomorrow—and drop off the cinnamon hide from the bear I took this year!  While experiencing hunting a predator is exciting, it’s the total experience I have enjoyed…Rick and Colleen and their two sons provide comradery, lots of in-camp laughs with the other hunters, wonderful food, and a very professional approach to the each hunt.  Spending a week at Agassiz is an exciting way to hunt and get the summer started…I’m sure I’ll hunt there again!    John Peterson, Battle Lake, Minnesota

Spring May 4 through May 12 2019 - Texas

So as my hunt approached. I found myself full of anxiety and excitement. This was my first of what I hope will Be many trips to hunt with Agassiz Outfitters. Although I was the only hunter that came alone on this journey. Rick and Colleen made me feel like family right from the start. Their hospitality and knowledge of bear hunting was exactly what i needed being this was my first bear hunt. Their two sons Brendan and Jordan were raised guiding hunts. These guys were always working to find the baits that were being hit to give all of us a chance at a trophy bear. I was fortunate to have seen a 400lb bear on my first sit. But didn’t get a shot. Was able to video for about 10 seconds. Very exciting for me. Being that I have never seen a bear before. After that i was able to watch a few smaller bears over the next few hunts. On Friday at 4:30 pm. I had a huge black bear come in at 20 yards. This guy was a tank compared to the other bears i had seen. As i drew my Mathews bow back. I let the arrow fly. And i thought that i had made a good shot. The arrow went in just behind the left shoulder. Being that i am from Texas and we grow up using that spot as the kill zone. I contacted Jordan about the bear. As i sat there for about 2 hrs Jordan and Brendan both showed up and we preceded to look for the bear. My arrow was only 15 yards from where I had shot him. We got on really good blood. As we found ourselves 300, 400 and now over 500 yards into this pursuit. We decided to pull out and come back tomorrow. After a long night and a pretty good lecture from Rick about the shot placement. We started the search again the next morning. Well sad to say we didn’t find this bear. I was and am still disappointed in myself for wounding this majestic creature. This has lit a flame in me. I now want a bear more than ever. I had no idea that I would encounter such a large bear. After looking back. I wanted to share this experience with all of you. I will be booking another trip with Agassiz outfitters.i can’t say enough about Rick, Colleen , Brendan and Jordan. They run a great camp. The food and comarodery was top notch. I look forward to seeing you all again soon. Good luck everyone. 2018 Fall Moose Hunt - Illinois

I went on a fall moose hunt with Agassiz Outfitters and I was extremely pleased with the hunt. My two buddies and I all scored with 34”,44” and 54” moose. I also tagged a white wolf. We saw a wolverine on my carcass along with other wildlife. Even if I didn’t get my moose, I would still give them a thumbs up. Food, hospitality and everything about the hunt was A+. We saw a lot of moose, so if you are considering a moose hunt, give them a try. You won’t regret it.

If you are looking for a quality bear hunt with a quality outfitter look no further. Agassiz Outfitters is a top notch operation that knows how to get you a quality trophy. The first thing I can tell you about is the camp. Colleen, Rick and the guides will have you feeling like family the second you arrive. Cabins are clean and comfortable and the meals that Colleen fixes are worth the trip by themselves. The other thing I like about the camp is that fishing is good around the area. If you hunt in a group camp life can be boring as you wait for other hunters. We bring fishing gear because the area has excellent fishing. Rick and Colleen have a boat we use and it makes the week even better. The main reason you hunt at Agassiz Outfitters though is the bear hunting. Rick and his guides have countless baits set up and always put the hard work in that you hope for. Some baits can be an hour car ride and miles back into the swamps. Others can involve a boat ride or trip in the Argo. Make no mistake, when you get in your stand you are hunting. At Agassiz outfitters I've sat in stands where bears are in 20 minutes after you crawl into the tree and the bait has a bear in it until dark. Stands where at any minute you could see a chocolate, cinnamon, or blond. In the area they hunt an absolute giant can walk into the bait at anytime. This past year I shot my best bear yet during the last 20 minutes of my hunt. He scored 20 9/16 after drying. My previous best, a giant chocolate was also shot at Agassiz Outfitters a couple years earlier. I would recommend hunting with Agassiz Outfitters to anyone looking for a top quality bear hunt as well as returning for another hunt myself in the near future.

My experience with Agassiz outfitter was very good! From the owner to the guides and the pilots everything was first class, they really take care of you, from the good food to the breath taken scenery and oh yah The moose are all over the place and big since they don't over hunt the areas. You cant go wrong with this outfitter, i have been on alot of hunts and i know a good outfitter when i see one and Agassiz outfitter is one!

Fall 2018 Moose - Beaver Dam, Wisconsin

I've been fortunate enough to have went on a number of different hunts throughout the U.S. and have enjoyed them all. About 4 years ago my buddy Hank and I decided it was time to look into booking our bucket list hunt, a moose hunt. After lots of research we narrowed it down to a couple outfitters. Fortunately Rick and Colleen attended the Deer and Turkey Expo in Madison, WI and we made plans to look them up. We spent nearly 2 hours with them at the Expo and even got to meet the legendary guide himself, Bob the Stalker. The professionalism was obvious from the start and there was no doubt this was the place for us. We booked the hunt (my first guided hunt) that same week. Fast forward 3 years to the fall of 2018. The excitement of the upcoming hunt and first time float plane trip was almost more than I could handle. We won the lottery and were paired up with Bob and Bryan. These guys know more about moose than the moose themselves! Camp was rustic and comfortable. The food was great and the company even better. I went into the hunt hoping to get a bull with my bow. Bryan did everything in his power to try and make it happen but after 3 days it was pretty obvious that due to the weather and high water, being successful with the bow was going to be next to impossible. I think on a normal year my chances would have been much better. I switched over to the rifle and man am I glad I did. I was fortunate enough to end up smack dab in the middle of moose paradise and took a bull of a lifetime. This hunt was everything I ever dreamed of and more. If your looking for a true wilderness experience totally away from everything with the hardest working guides around, this is the place to go. I have a feeling (and hope) my once-in-a-lifetime hunt just might happen again. Thanks again Agassiz Outfitters for my greatest hunting experience to date.

Rick and Colleen I would like to thank you for giving me the Best Bear Hunt I have ever been on. I could not have asked for you to do anything better than you did. I have been on more than 5 guided bear hunts and 12 guided elk hunts and have never had a better experience than the one I had at Agassiz! From the moment we arrived in camp you made me feel welcome and part of the group. First there was the food. It was delicious and you always went out of your way to ensure everyone had more than enough to eat! Second was the camp it was clean when we arrived including the beds turned down. The bear hunt itself was exceptional! I hunted for 3 days to get my bear. On the first night saw 4 bears including 2 big ones. The only problem was I did heed Rick’s advice on judging size and let a 300+ pound bear that I had a 3 yards walk. On the first night I also got to witness a wolf stroll by and took some pictures of him. Second night got to watch a 200-pound bear eat so much orange licorice that the bear walked off into the bush and laid down on its side and moan from what I think was belly ache from eating so much. On the third night the same bear from previous night showed up. I made the decision to take this bear at 21 yards. The shot was less than perfect and I wondered if I would ever see it again. It took the tireless work of Jordan, Brendan, and Greg to recover the bear. I have never seen more dedicated guides in finding the bear. Then to top it off Brendan carried the bear out on his back for almost a mile! I came to Manitoba for an adventure but never expected that much of one. It was truly an experience of a lifetime. Thanks again for making my 2018 spring bear hunt one I will remember for a lifetime.
